Back in October 2012, I posted a great pair of 1940's Santa Rosa Engineer Boots on "Reader Mail" as sent in by David.  His friend picked them up at the Goodwill  for a promising $10.00.  Well, these gems were sold for a hefty price just in time for the holiday's.  Unfortunately the ending price is fairly consistent with market value for this caliber of Vintage Engineer Boots.  I'd have been pleased to take 'em home for $1,200-$1,400 ... if they were my size.

Notice the exact same instep and upper buckles used on both the Santa Rosa's (left) and original NOS 1940's Chippewa's as well as the similar shape of the pointed instep strap end.  Also, it appears a similar last was used on both boots (esp. on the western-style Santa Rosa's below).  Were these boots produced by the same manufacturer?
