Anyone who's browsed my blog enough knows I am a huge fan of vintage Chippewa Engineer Boots, especially those from the 1940's. This 1950's pair is great - It has amazing patina, classic 1950's profile and attractive stacked heels, but sixteen bills is a bit over the top. I'd say the price is on par with that of what our Japanese brethren would shell out (these would even sell for $2,000 there), but the large size would normally indicate that these were purchased by a non-Japanese buyer.

I would more than likely lose the bid at $950.00, but that's all I'd be in it for. Anything beyond that, I'd rather pick up a third pair of Mister Freedom "Road Champ" boots or third pair of Lofgren's in Badalassi.
