I'm not perfect, but being in the military has taught me a little bout attention to detail. Johnny's boots (to me) are a big part of his appeal. It's like putting a black McG Drizzler on a Jim Stark action figure. It's just too obvious.
MF, isn't that just an odd thing? They were either taken in or...patched? That has to be at least a four inch seam allowance. Either way, good eye.
