MODIFY YOUR REPRODUCTION BUCKLEBACK BUCKLES

Today's buckleback buckles are designed with safety in mind - not the case back in the day.  Although, somewhat dangerous, the original style buckle prongs proved to be more reliable with keeping the buckleback strap in place. 

Here's an easy step-by-step for those desiring a more accurate buckle.  For reproduction buckleback items with period-style buckles, follow these four simple steps:

Step 1:  Get pliers with wire cutting capability

Step 2:  Grab metal bar attached to the 2 pins and break off

Step 3:  Sand down pin points

Step 4:  Adjust and wear
