EARLY ENGINEER BOOTS

This photograph dates back to January 1938 and shows Hap Jones holding his trophy after one of his four Bay City Motorcycle  Clubs' annual New Year's Day Race wins.

It's clear the gentleman on the far right is wearing Engineer Boots, but it's hard to tell if the gentleman to his right is wearing a pair as well.  As early as this photograph is, it's possible the boots were made by Wesco, Red Wing or perhaps Chippewa.  Engineer Boots date back to at least the early 1930's.  There is no proof, that I know of, that this style existed in the 1920's.
